Handy Goolge search box queries
Category: Google, Nice tools
I do not think many Googler’s out there realize that the google search box can be used for more things then just keyword searchers for websites. I was reading Matt Cutt’s blog at www.mattcutts.com ( the head Google engineer) the other day and came accross some very nifty features that have recently been built into the Google search box.
Matt says that one of Google’s goals is actually to be able to accept just about anything into it’s search box (package tracking numbers, airline flight numbers, etc.) and Google will try to return something useful such as the status of a flight for example.
Check out the following handy Google search box queries:
- Covert USD into Euro with a search like [one dollar to euro]:

- Of course, you can use Google as your calculator too! [10 x 10]:

- Converting hexadecimal to decimal with a search like this [0×607a in decimal]:

- Convert decimal to hexadecimal with a Google search like [1854 in hex]:

- You can even convert hexadecimal to binary with a search like [0×770 in binary]:

- And check this out!! [5 inches]:

So as you can see, the Google search box can do a lot more then lookup websites! It will be interesting to see where Google search goes to in the comming years as they fight to stay ahead of their competition…which is getting stronger!
